Mastering CD w/Ozone... 0db?

Mastering is done to the rendered 2 track of your mix. You can place each song on it's own track with the next one beginning where the prior one ends. Then you can place mastering plugins on each track. If you are going to use a maximizer to raise the volume on the tracks you still have to keep it below 0db. I usually set my maximizer to -0.03db to ensure that all cd players will play it. Some players don't like it when a track is at 0. You can then raise the level on the maximizer to where you want it. Do that for each song getting the levels for each song where you want them. Then you can render the entire project or make an image file of it to burn to cd.

You would leave the track fader at 0DB and do the level raising within Ozone.

I master to -0.3. I think I got that number from a TC Electronic white paper but I can't remember for sure.

RE: Mastering CD w/Ozone... 0db?

Thank you all for the great responses... this helped me a lot. I've got Ozone added as a per-item fx on each rendered song on one track as recommended. With this setup, raising or lowering either the track or master fader does nothing to the input or output in Ozone. So I guess my question is, with the master fader at 0dB, does the track level mean anything?
