Well, i've had the CAD M9 for about two years and love the Mic. Now i'm noticing there is a fluctuation of volume the mic is outputting. When i tap it I get a signal just fine. But, once i speak into into the output drops drastically, giving me a terrible signal to noise ratio. After some reading i think its the capsule (Somebody posted about the Capsule and Humidity test). I though it was the tube first so i opened it and found some sticky red glue or gel around the screws. I think that may be to glue the rubber stoppers to the PCB where the screws go. Not sure if that is the cause, but it look like a sloppy job. I cleaned the dust and the excess gel off the pcb and its still doing the same thing. Question..? (Since i cant get CAD on the phone) Will it be expensive to fix something like this? If it is the Capsule, would it be easier just to buy a new mic? How easy would it be to replace the Capsule if that is the prob?

i have same mic for 4yrs with no problem, i cant help really but the guy i bought it from might know, will ask him soon, but tubes cable power supply and mic could all need checking to isolate the prob
The red gunk on the screws is for warranty so they can tell if you've messed with it during the warranty period You shittin me right? Well, im sure mine is out of warranty anyways. The tube isnt the prob because i switched them and the same problem.
I don't know the mic but do some searches for Mic modding. You should be able to find some info and help and maybe a replacement capsule if that is required, HTH :) PS I like to hear different mics so do you have any sound samples of it?

Well the CAD looks like its gonna get buried. Those dudes at CAD still aint call me. Mike Jolly respectfully declined the Mod. So i guess its to the grave. CAD customer service is nonexistent. Now i need a new Mic. What should i get to go with the GAP Pre 73 for around $250-$300? I was looking at the AKG Perception 420 and AT2050..I like the fact they have different patterns.
My fav cheap condenser right now is the Shure KSM 32, around $300 used on ebay. Not as bright as the CADs, but that's a good thing IMO. No tube, either, but a very warm, smooth, well balanced mic - I use on Vocs, Ac and El Gts, in front of Kick/Kit.
